Our friends at Leuchie House invited us to join them as ten world class golfers with disability paid a visit to their respite centre yesterday for some fun golf games with guests. The players, ranked in the top ten of the World Rankings for Golfers with Disability (WR4GD), are all teeing off this morning in the inaugural European Disabled Golf Association (EDGA) Scottish Open. Muirfield Riding Therapy were gifted a copy of the EDGA’s new book, Mulligan, signed by players.
Many of the players who visited Leuchie House are featured in the book, ‘Mulligan – tough love and second chances’ – put together by EDGA to showcase their Team. It includes many powerful stories from the players, and Muirfield Riding Therapy has kindly been gifted a copy, signed by several players, with some messages of support for us –
Paul Ellison (Scotland) – ‘To Muirfield Riding Therapy. Best wishes, Paul Ellison’
Geoff Nicholas (Australia) – ‘To Muirfield Riding Therapy. Many Best Wishes, Geoff’
Reinard ‘Rhino’ Schuhknecht (S Africa) – ‘All the best. Keep up the good work. Smile, smile, smile, Reinhard’
Chris Biggins (USA) – ‘Keep it up! You all are incredible. Chris’
Pictured (below) with Muirfield Riding Therapy Chair Michelle and Fundraising Manager Deborah McLaughlin, and their copy of ‘Mulligan’, is Reinard ‘Rhino’ Schuhknecht, 4 x World Champion (One-Armed Championships).
At Muirfield Riding Therapy we help people fulfil their potential. MRT’s ethos is based on team work; by working together, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, education professionals and our specially trained Volunteers and Ponies we are able to offer Riders the best therapeutic benefit.
Our physiotherapists provide specialist child and adult services, and support the training of our Coaching Team. Our Coaches are trained to think like therapists. We use riding as a therapeutic activity. We work with our physiotherapists to provide tailored Therapy Plans for Riders using specific exercises to achieve individual goals.
