He is in great demand as a solo performer\, band leader\, session musician and guest artiste at accordion and fiddle clubs throughout the country. \nLeonard first picked up an accordion at the age of eleven. He was an Irish dancer for four years from the age of seven with the McElvogue School of Irish Dancing and after winning 120 medals and 17 trophies\, he decided to retire and take up the accordion. \nHis dancing teacher’s sister\, Sheena McCaffrey gave Leonard his first lessons on piano accordion with the main focus being bellow movement and how the left hand operated. Leonard then went on to teach himself and took a keen interest in Scottish music through his hero\, the great Tom Alexander MBE from the famous Alexander Brothers. \nLeonard competed in October 2012 at the Perth Accordion and Fiddle Festival and won to became only the second Englishman to be crowned All Scotland Accordion Champion\, under the tutelage of Michael Philip. This is the creme de la creme of accordion competitions in Scotland and is a title that Leonard is very proud of. He was awarded the Jimmy Shand Shield by the adjudicator John Carmichael. \nLeonard has consequently played extensively across the United Kingdom as a soloist and with his band. He was also a member of the Happy Cats Folk Band from 2011 until they disbanded in 2017. \n\nLeonard has recorded a number of albums and his CDs and USBs will be available to purchase at the weekend with 50% of all CD revenue also going to the charity. Thank you Leonard!\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Classic Car Tour 2025
DESCRIPTION:Enter North Berwick Rotary Club’s Classic Car Tour 2025!\nBeneficiary Charity for 2025: Muirfield Riding Therapy\n  \n“Our definition of a ‘classic car’ is a car that is cherished by its owner. This means there could be cars from the 1950’s and 1960’s\, right up to current models. We had a car from the 1920’s one year\, and we have also had a Tesla taking part\,” says Gordon Symon\, North Berwick Rotary Club’s Classic Car Tour organising committee member. Muirfield Riding Therapy is delighted to be chosen as a beneficiary charity of this year’s Tour\, on Sunday 27th April. \n  \nThe 2025 Classic Car Tour is in its 8th outing. Organised by the Rotary Club of North Berwick\, the emphasis is on enjoyment; it is not a race\, and everybody proceeds at their own pace. Leaving from North Berwick\, the Tour follows a set route through East Lothian to the Borders\, stopping at Carfraemill for lunch\, before returning\, by a different scenic route\, for dinner at The Marine\, North Berwick. \n  \n“We usually have several Jaguars and MG’s\, but we have had Ford Cortinas\, Hillman Imps\, Minis and Morris Minors too\, not to mention some Porsches\, Mustangs and other American cars”\, says Gordon. \n\nCharity fundraiser\nThe Tour is one of the Club’s charity fundraisers\, and on top of an entry fee\, drivers are asked to make a minimum donation of £75\, but many give much more. Over the years\, the 7 tours have raised more than £60\,000. This year\, MRT will be a beneficiary charity. \n  \nEnter the Classic Car Tour 2025\nNumbers are restricted to 60 cars\, with their drivers and passengers\, and entries are open now. More information is available at The Rotary Club of North Berwick’s website or from Gordon Symon directly by phone 07702 731405 or email. \nThe Tour has it’s own Facebook page
