Cuillin was a beautiful chestnut mare with a forward going stride. You had to be quick when mounting as she wasn’t very patient and you had to be a quick walker when leading or side walking.
She was our Office Manager Shirley’s very first horse and she kindly decided to share her with MRT. Shirely says, “I bought her, got married and bought a flat all at the same time!! Riding out on her kept me sane and allowed me to escape the madness of life!”
Shirley remembers Rachel, one of our riders, jumping Cuillin in the Outdoor Arena – that was back in the day when there were less rules and regulations. “I’m not too sure who enjoyed it more, Rachel or Cuillin, but each time the jumps kept getting bigger and bigger!”
When Shirely moved over to Ireland she left Cuillin in the very capable hands of Laraine Wells (who now shares Raiden). Shirley says, “The pair of them had a great time going off to shows and competing, sending me lovely photos, and all the time still doing her MRT work. That was all a long time ago and she is now in a lush field surrounded by polo mint trees!! Gone but never forgotten.”
