Dressage Show 2026

Welcome to our 3rd annual Dressage Show, open to all ages and abilities. Enjoy a British Dressage experience in a relaxed, friendly and encouraging atmosphere.

This Dressage Show is organised by and on behalf of Muirfield Riding Therapy to raise funds for therapy riding. Held at our Indoor Arena, at West Fenton Farm, EH39 5AL, by kind permission of The Morrison Family.  The Show is generously sponsored by Caledonian Horticulture, presenting The Irene Carter Memorial Shield to the Highest RDA Dressage Score.

What to expect

  • Highest score rosettes will be presented to the highest score in classes 1-4 and classes 5-6.
  • Outdoor warm up and indoor test for all classes.
  • Classes 5 and 6 – able bodied riders will warm up on grass, RDA riders will warm up in the outdoor school.
  • Class numbers may be limited to ensure completion of the show at a reasonable time.
  • All proceeds support Muirfield Riding Therapy, thank you.
  • Cafe serving tea/coffee, soup, bacon rolls, filled rolls and home baking, in our cozy Viewing Gallery.

TESTS
  • Class 1: British Dressage Introductory 1 (2024) for new riders to dressage not to have been placed in any dressage test.
  • Class 2 : British Dressage Introductory 2 (2024) for riders not to have won more than 3 walk / trot tests or any Prelim or above tests.
  • Class 3 : British Dressage Preliminary 1 (2024) horse & rider combinations not to have won 3 firsts at Prelim level or above.
  • Class 4 : British Dressage Preliminary 2 (2024) horse / riders combinations not to have been placed 1st to 3rd at Novice level or above.
  • Class 5 : RDA Introduction to Dressage Test 3 (2016) Walk or Walk / Trot – for riders on a lead rein under 12yo, or a disabled person of any age.
  • Class 6 : RDA Introduction to Dressage Test 3 (2016) Walk or Walk / Trot – for riders off the lead rein including disabled riders.

 

RULES

1. All horses / ponies to be aged 4 years and over.

2. Horses may not be entered in more than 3 classes / 2 tests per rider.

3. No British Dressage points.

4. Dogs must be on a lead at all times and kept away from any horse / pony.

5. This competition is run under British Dressage and RDA rules, back numbers will be supplied if necessary.

6. A hard hat to PASO15 (2011), ASTM F1163 (2004), AS/NZS 3838 (2006) and WHICH MUST ALSO BE ACCOMPANIED BY THE RESPECTIVE OFFICIAL KITEMARK. The chin strap must have a non-detachable retaining harness secured to the shell at more than two points. Any rider found to be using a hat to a lower specification will be disqualified.

7. Neither the organisers of this event, nor any person acting on thier behalf, the owners of the showground or agents acting on their behalf, accept any liability for the loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, riders, spectators or any other persons or property whatsoever. Riders should have their own third party insurance (MRT riders are covered by RDA insurance)

8. Rosettes 1st to 6th place in all classes.

9. Closing date is Wednesday 18th March at 23:45. No late entries. Times will be available on Friday 14th March on Horse Monkey.

10. The judge’s decision is final. Any complaints must be made in writing to the secretary accompanied by £20 and the complaintmust be made within one hour of the incident.

11. Entry fees will only be reufnded if the show is cancelled. An administration fee may be taken from each competitor. No refunds after the closing date.

12. Dressage tests may be read.

13. Cantering is allowed only in the practice and competition areas.

14. The organisers reserve the right to combine or split classes according to entries with results determinded on a percentage basis.

15. There will be a limited number of entries available in each class.

16. We ask that the horses are fully vaccinated against equine flu, within the last 12 months, and that passports be available for inspection by an MRT official random checks will be made.

17. Dress code is jodphurs, shirt and dark jacket / blazer. Refer to British Dressage Rulebook 2025 page 123-130.

18. The venue, including the parking area must be left clean and tidy. Please ensure you remove all hay / droppings / litter etc.
