Maria, pictured here with Charity, is having great fun taking part in an activity which is fairly new to Muirfield Riding Therapy, Show Jumping.
There are 5 levels in this activity with Level 1 Show Jumping suitable for everyone. This outgoing young lady has ridden with us for several years and has developed riding skills that mean she can take part in this exciting activity at Level 3 which gives her new challenges. Show jumping helps develop participants’ planning skills as they steer their pony to the next jump; their control of the equine’s pace as they slow down for the corners on the course; and accelerate over the jumps!
Participants taking part in show jumping and dressage are able to compete in RDA competitions as well as competing within Muirfield Riding Therapy, either in real time or by video.
Maria has already competed in dressage at the RDA National Championships held at Hartbury. During this outing last July, she was one of a team of Muirfield Riding Therapy participants who travelled south with their parents for a wonderful experience which boosted their confidence in a very supportive environment.
