Meet Rory, his mum Lesley tells us about his condition and how riding therapy helps,
Rory has been diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a severe genetic disorder that causes progressive muscle weakness and wasting.
Despite this, Lesley tells us he has found solace in horseback riding at Muirfield Riding Therapy (MRT), an activity that not only strengthens his core and improves his coordination, but also boosts his confidence and deepens his understanding of the ponies.

In his time at MRT he has ridden a few of our ponies, but I reckon if we asked him he would say his favourite was the lovely Bryony, but we wont tell Beeby that!
Lesley goes on to say,
Rory feels a strong sense of belonging at MRT, where he is surrounded by supportive people who go the extra mile to make each session enjoyable and memorable.
Volunteer Debby, who has worked with Rory for several years says that as volunteers this is lovely to hear,
Rory lifts everyone’s spirits with his cheeky grin!
